Branford Republicans Pick Romney
Fourteen percent of Branford's Republican voters turned out at the polls for the party's Presidential Primary Voting Day April 24, with the overwhelming majority selecting Mitt Romney as their candidate.
Town Clerk Marianne Kelley reported a total count of 403 voters at the polls, 14 percent of Branford's 2813 registered Republicans. After the seven district polls closed at 8 p.m., results revealed the winner, Mitt Romney, with 283 votes. Trailing a distant second was Ron Paul (63 votes) followed by New Gingrich (28 votes) and Rick Santorum (24 votes). Five "uncommitted" votes were cast, as well.
