Madison Businesses Pass Tobacco Check


Madison Police in conjunction with members of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), and the Tobacco Prevention Enforcement Program (TPEP) surprised 15 Madison businesses today with Tobacco compliance inspections.

Current state laws prohibit the sale of cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of 18.

Under the direction and supervision of DMHAS, investigators and underage youth employed by TPEP entered each business and attempted to purchase tobacco products. Of the 15 businesses visited none were found in violation.

The businesses in compliance included Madison Mobil Mart, 1334 Boston Post Rd.; Hammonasset Package Store, LLC, 1333 Boston Post Rd., Cumberland Farms, 633 Boston Post Rd.; Hendel's Madison Henny Penny, 646 Boston Post Rd.; Stop & Shop, 136 Samson Rock Rd.; Spirits of Madison, 142 Samson Rock Rd.; Madison Mini Mart, Inc., 181 Boston Post Rd.; Madison Wine Exchange, 188 Boston Post Rd.; Franco's Discount Wine & Liquor, 44 Boston Post Rd.; East River Package, 270 Boston Post Rd.; North Madison Sunocco, 1276 Durham Rd.; Circle Pizza, 1278 Durham Rd.; Robert's Food Center, 514 Old Toll Rd.; and North Madison Wine & Spirits, 518 Old Toll Rd.
