Recording Clerk Resigns from HMC

Long-time Harbor Management Commission (HMC) Recording Clerk Ruth Ann Hockert has resigned from the position.

When the Ethics Commission ruled recently that Hockert violated ethics rules when she placed her name on a mooring holders’ list, the commission referred the ruling back to the HMC and the Board of Selectmen to consider possible action.

HMC Chair Ray Collins told the Board of Selectmen that the HMC had discussed the ruling this month and took only limited action.

“My direction to Ruth was, 'Don’t make that mistake again' and to refer the issue to the Board of Selectmen for further action,” Collins said.

First Selectman Carl Fortuna responded to Collins by saying the Ethics Commission ruling with respect to Hockert’s actions would be placed on a future BOS meeting agenda for discussion.
