Scranton Library Announces Director's Retirement
In April, Sandy Long, director of the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library for 41 years, told her Board of Trustees she would be retiring in mid-October. Last week the Board of Trustees announced the retirement to library staff and town officials.
In a letter to library staff, Ted Mallory, president of the Board of Trustees, said, "Sandy has been the foundation of our library for over four decades. She has seen the library and the town of Madison transform during her 41-year tenure as director. Her leadership and personality have made the library a treasure to the town and a marvelous place to work for our employees. Sandy's integrity and New England style of management ensured a professional and efficient library operation."
