06/24/2011 12:00 AMMADISON - The rainstorms of June 23 may have delayed the Daniel Hand High School Class of 2011 graduation, but it did not dampen its spirits nor did it derail predictions of its future. Speaker after speaker told this class of 308, "The future is yours to write," and it will be a better future because Hand graduates will choose to make it so.
Lauren Powers, in her class remarks, told her classmates they were assembled on the Green in caps and gowns not to celebrate the end of high school, but to "celebrate the beginning of an era. An era where we are in charge. All our lives people have told us that we were the future. Not anymore. Now, we are the present. It is our turn to change the world." Surrounded by family and friends, the graduates seemed prepared to do so.
The ceremony, delayed by rain, took place Friday morning, June 24.
