04/25/2011 12:00 AMBefore a crowd of family, friends, and supporters, Daria Novak announced that she will be running for U.S. Congress in Connecticut's Second District. Novak's announcement at Café Allegre in Madison Thursday night, April 21, launches her bid for the seat in 2012.
Michael Hannan, a member of the Waterford Republican Town Committee and longtime supporter of Ms. Novak's, introduced her to the crowd. "Now, without any further delay, it gives me great pleasure and it is very much my honor to introduce to you a woman of great decency, strong conviction and nearly tireless energy," said Hannan.
"Daria Novak is the only choice to fill this seat as she has the depth of knowledge of the issues and knows what needs to be done to ensure our Nation's future is once again headed in the right direction," said Kathy Blake, a campaign volunteer and a member of the Westbrook Republican Town Committee.
Ms. Novak told the attendees that she was running for U.S. Congress in 2012 because she "remains concerned about the issues our Nation is facing and wants to impact the decisions being made in Washington by having a voice and representing the people of the Second District in Connecticut."
"I am looking forward to campaigning on the issues," Novak said. "I am confident that the people of the Second District are as concerned about big government, excessive spending, and higher taxes as I am and they will recognize that I am the right person to be their voice in Washington."
