Branford Police Nab Smash-and-Grab Burglar
Branford Police officers have arrested Sebastian Licht, 28, with a last known address of 6 Buttonwood Drive Branford after he was involved in a smash-and-grab burglary at a secluded gas station in a remote area of Branford at 2:31 a.m. this morning.
Officers who have stepped up proactive building checks (more than 850 in 30 days) noticed Licht’s vehicle speeding away from the gas station prior to the burglary alarm being reported to police. Officers, who had previous information supplied by the department’s crime analyst, immediately notified the New Haven Police Department of a vehicle description and possible location of the vehicle’s destination. New Haven officers stopped the vehicle driven by Licht as it arrived at the suspected location.
Officers recovered a large quantity of stolen items from the gas station as well as burglary tools.
Licht was charged with third degree conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, and fourth and sixth degree larceny. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
