Branford Police detectives have arrested a Branford woman for prostitution after an investigation was conducted stemming from complaints from citizens.

According to Detective Lieutenant William Carroll, Geraldine Francoeur, 42, of 101 North Branford Road was arrested and taken into custody on Monday afternoon after an investigation revealed that Francoeur was engaged illegal sexual activity at her home.

“It is not uncommon for citizens in our community to report this type of activity as well as other types of criminal activity to our agency for investigation,” said Carroll. “Coupled with a swift investigation, including surveillance, we are able to bring these types of investigations to a successful conclusion.”

Francoeur was charged with prostitution and was released on a written promise to appear in New Haven Court on Dec. 7.
