07/14/2010 12:00 AMThe Weather Channel confirms that, in fact, rain is finally falling from the sky.
Today's precipitation— all 80 percent chance of it— comes in the wake of hot and humid stretch. Though thunderstorms are predicted to rumble today—offering a welcomed deluge—the humidity will be upwards of 85 percent and thus, another sticky day.
According to the Weather Channel, the high temperatures for today and tomorrow will be in the low 80s, though tomorrow the sun is expected to be shining once again.
The National Climate Data Center reports, "The nationally-averaged temperature for June was much warmer than normal."
Governor M. Jodi Rell recently announced that more than 90 "cooling centers" have been opened in cities and towns across Connecticut as municipalities respond to the Governor's request to ensure adequate relief from a ferocious summer heat wave (see related story to the right).
