07/06/2010 12:00 AMThe annual Madison Fireworks got off to a beautiful start on July 2, but “oohs” and “ahhs” turned into worry as a low-exploding firework caused an unknown injury to a barge worker. Spectators were alerted to the injury when officials began to wave emergency boats from the shore of West Wharf Beach. Fireworks resumed after the injured worker was placed on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to a local emergency room. Officials did not disclose the victim’s name or extent of his injuries.—Shannon Wood
