Ian Neviaser Named Assistant Superintendent For the Region 4 Schools
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ruth Levy has announced that Ian Neviaser has been named the new assistant superintendent for Region 4.
Neviaser, who lives in Essex, is currently the principal of Valley Regional High School, a position he has held for the past two years. The Connecticut Association of Schools named Neviaser the recipient of the Connecticut Outstanding First Year Principal Award at the high school level.
"Ian Neviaser has been an outstanding principal at Valley Regional High School. We look forward to Ian bringing his enthusiasm, ideas, and leadership to the five schools of Region 4," said Levy. "I look forward to working more closely with such an accomplished and committed educator as we continue the critical work of preparing our students to be knowledgeable, involved citizens in a rapidly changing world."
Neviaser accepted the job as assistant superintendent following a meeting of the Region 4 Supervision District Board of Education on Thursday night. Neviaser will begin his role as assistant superintendent on
Aug. 1. A search for Neviaser's replacement as principal at Valley Regional High School will begin immediately.
"Given the reputation and record of accomplishment at Valley Regional High School, I am very optimistic we will attract a strong pool of candidates interested in the position. The new principal will have the benefit of working with Ian to build on the success he's been such an important part of over the past two years, making for a smooth transition process," said Levy.
Neviaser graduated with his B.A. from Wesleyan University. He received his master's degree and sixth-year degree from Southern Connecticut State University and his advanced educational leadership certification from the University of Connecticut. Prior to working in Region 4 Schools, Neviaser was a high school social studies teacher, department chair, and the assistant principal at Guilford High School.
Neviaser resides in Essex with his wife and children. He is an active member of the community and coaches football when not involved in the many school activities he attends.
