Career Achievements

• North Branford resident Jeannine Carlson's black Great Dane Laurs, Hopes Black Coffee to Go took her 15-point championship in Wrentham, Massachusetts.

Dr. William Lordan, a Branford-based chiropractor, is the first Connecticut shoreline doctor to receive certification in Impulse, a technique incorporating the use of a hand-held instrument for the treatment of low-back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, and whiplash. • Hospital of St. Raphael Volunteers Honored: Joseph DiMassa, Anthony Marks, and Rosemarie Rompe of Branford (500 hours each); Frank Donroe and Sally Jenkins, also of Branford (200 hours); Jack Fryer of North Branford (1,500 hours); John Acampora of Northford (500 hours); and Brenda Karsmarski of Northford (200 hours).

Kimberly Spanier, who owns North Branford-based Everything Under the Roof, LLC, with her husband Jason, received the Sound BNI Chapter Notable Networker Award for successful lead generation for the group. She was also recognized for her extensive volunteer time as chapter president.

Paul Sturgess, CIC, a Branford resident who works for V.F. McNeil Insurance, was recognized for professional leadership and advanced knowledge by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.

Acts of Community Service and Charitable Contributions

Christopher Giri and Delaram Takyar, both of Branford, participated in The Youth Corps of the Connecticut Regional Chapter of the American Red Cross, through which they received health- and safety training and performed community service at the South Central Connecticut office and the Veteran's Administration Hospital.
