11/28/2024 12:00 AMOn Saturday, Nov. 30, Orchestra New England (O.N.E.) will kick off their 51st season with the 45th edition of their Colonial Concert, featuring powdered wigs, waistcoats, mob caps, and musical delights.
The Colonial Concert is truly one of a kind – a concert that takes attendees back to the 1780s and pays homage to the iconic history of New Haven. As always, this concert promises to be a night of fun for the whole family, and this year features music of Haydn, Bach, Handel, and Mozart.
The orchestra returns to perform in the historic United Church on the Green under their founder and esteemed conductor, James Sinclair. They have prepared the repertoire to perform as if for the first time. The concert features mezzo-soprano Eliana Barwinski singing several Mozart and Handel arias and long-time principal flutist Adrianne Greenbaum performing a movement of Telemann’s flute concerto. This concert also features a brilliant choral finale with professional chorus Alchemy, prepared by Joseph D’Eugenio.
“The Colonial Concert is one of our favorite times each year,” said Sinclair, “It’s truly one of a kind, and our whole orchestra has a lot of fun with it each year. It’s such an exciting and different way to re-experience great music.”
The concert once again features a festive pre-concert dinner at The Elm City Club, just across the street from the church. Concertgoers can celebrate the start of the 51st season of O.N.E. and another iconic Colonial Concert. The concert is followed by a catered reception in Bradley Hall at the church.
Tickets for Colonial Concert XLV are on sale now, with general admission and premium options available, as well as tickets for the pre-concert dinner. Tickets can be purchased at the links below or by calling 203-488-8403. Colonial Concert XLV promises to be an evening of great music, with a glimpse into New Haven’s colonial past.
