I have not yet had a chance to visit Colt Taylor’s latest, The Essex Brasserie, 120 North Main Street, Branford. The menu features French-inspired bistro fare in a casual setting. Taylor, the chef and owner, has opted for a soft opening. But then I heard one of my friends, Colin Sheehan of Branford, had visited and I wanted to hear all about it. Here is his assessment: Salad vert? “Loved the vinaigrette!” Clam chowder? “Very tasty.” Tuna (tartare) toast? “Off the charts!” Beef Wellington? “Amazing!” Crème brûlée? “Fabulous!” I can’t wait to try it for myself!
