09/26/2024 12:00 AMGreenStage Guilford will present a showcase of live music and comedy on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the iconic Guilford restaurant, The Place. The free event, called the GreenStage Experience, will be a fun evening for all ages. Food from The Place’s grill menu and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase; attendees are welcome to bring their own alcoholic drinks and sides. The GreenStage Experience is part of GreenStage Guilford Live Arts’ expanded Shoreline programming and will highlight the kind of diverse entertainment GreenStage has presented at its biennial performing arts festival since 2017. The 2025 festival is scheduled for Aug. 10 to 17.
Performers at The GreenStage Experience will include the Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band, singer-songwriter Laura Clapp, The Conn Artists a cappella vocal ensemble, West African drummer and ethnographer John Wesley Dankwa and his five-person ensemble, Indian tabla master Ranendra Kumar Das, the father-and-son duo SJD Squared, featuring Jim and Steve DePasque; and comedian Kate Wolff. Dankwa and Das will perform traditional music and interact with the audience to highlight cultural, historical, and technical aspects of their instruments.
