Five Museums, 400 Years Of History

Five history museums in Guilford are coordinating to offer a passport program to encourage area visitors to visit all five museums.

Each museum has its own architecture, time periods, collections, and stories to explore. Those who visit all of them will venture through nearly 400 years of history. The participating museums are the Dudley Farm Museum, Henry Whitfield State Museum, Hyland House Museum, Medad Stone Tavern Museum, and Thomas Griswold House Museum. The program is open to adults and children.

The program begins Saturday, June 1, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 29. Check with individual sites for hours, admission, and other information. The passport can be picked up at any of the museums and can be stamped at each museum. Those who visit all five museums and return the passport by Sunday, Sept. 29 will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win one of five prize baskets.

The identical prize baskets include museum swag and merchandise donated by local businesses. Five winners will be randomly selected from all of the completed Passports.

For more information, contact the Henry Whitfield State Museum at 203-453-2457 or whitfieldmuseum@ct.gov.
