04/04/2024 12:00 AMThe Arts Café at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek will hot poet Jeanne LeVasseur with singer/songwriter David Coller on Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 4 p.m.
For many years, LeVasseur was a long-time professor at the School of Nursing at Quinnipiac University. While teaching and practicing, her other life work was poetry. Her collection Planetary Nights gathers nearly 100 poems, many of which offer compassionate glimpses into the world of nursing. But most of the collection explores the arc of a life from childhood to adulthood with material both humorous and resonant. Her poems are often grounded by bees, stars, and dogs. And her lush imagery unlocks the imagination, so cows become “moon jumpers with meadows in their bones.”
The musical prelude will be offered by David Coller, a singer/songwriter who has been writing and performing since his teens.
This event is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to RSVP at 860-526-8920 or office@cbsrz.org.
