Thomas Grey Hollinger
Thomas Grey Hollinger, 73, of Clinton, passed away on Dec. 24, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born March 5, 1950, in Philadelphia to Eunice (Hurlburt) Mawby and Norman Mawby; he grew up in the heart of DelCo in Media, Pennsylvania.
Thomas is survived by his father, Norman; wife of 48 years, Sarah (Minster) Hollinger of Clinton; two sons, John Hollinger (Shavonne Hannahoe) and David Hollinger (Chantal Coughlin); four grandchildren, Addison, Samuel, Silas and Vivienne; brother Charles Hollinger; twin sister Gerry Hollinger (yes, you read that right, twins named Tom and Gerry); brothers-in-law, John Minster (Kathy) and Chris Minster (Kate D’Ababie); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thomas graduated from Juniata College in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree in economics. First started his banking career at First Penn National Bank in Philadelphia and continued in the banking field to his final day. He moved to Clinton in 1981 and had been an active member in the community through the years as a Little League coach, president of the Clinton Touchdown Club; as a member of the Board of Finance and Town Council for 30-plus years, he always put the best interests of the town ahead of his party affiliation.
Outside of spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed traveling to Aruba annually. Proudly carried his draft card in the off chance the U.S. decided to reinstitute the draft. He was a devout Philadelphia sports fan, officially welcomed home the 1966-’67 champion Philadelphia 76ers at the airport (can be verified via YouTube), and although he didn’t get a chance to see the Eagles win one last time on Christmas day, he got to see the next best thing with his final act of fandom in seeing the Dallas Cowboys lose.
