Alix Harrow, author of one of my favorite books, The Ten Thousand Doors of January had a new book released on Oct. 3! I enjoyed listening to an advanced copy on the Libro app, the independent bookstore version of Audible, where purchased books benefit the independent bookstore of your choice. This twisty plot involves Opal, a young woman who is looking out for her high school-aged brother Jasper, and Arthur, a battered “warden” of the mysterious Starling House mansion. The plot weaves together dreams, myths, an old book called Underland, copious monsters, and a down-on-its-luck Kentucky town called Eden, whose jobs depend on the local coal mine and power plant. The story keeps you hooked until the end when age-old truths are revealed. For older teens and adults.
