Foul Weather Friends
It was a small problem as problems go these days, but it was a problem nonetheless. It was Friday, I had planned to go to the Madison Farmer’s Market to pick up some things for a weekend gathering, but it was pouring rain. Would they show up? Of course, they did. I not only got my bread from Wave Hill, but they were offering a rainy day special. The guys at Four Root Farm were their usual cheerful selves, amusing themselves with their mascot on display, a carrot that has grown in the shape of a little man. At Maple Breeze Farm, one of the owners was chatting cheerfully with a customer. The owner of Summer Hill Catering probably would have preferred to be someone warm and cozy downing a hot cup of coffee but, nope, she was there too. There’s nothing like a foul-weather friend, and I appreciate you all.
