Calling All Handy People
The Sustainable Guilford Task Force is getting ready to launch the first "Repair Café" in Guilford, on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Guilford Community Center, 32 Church Street, Guilford.
This will be a community event where people can bring broken household items (like a toaster, lamp, sweater with holes, for example) and get help fixing them free of charge from volunteer repair experts. It's part of a global movement to reduce waste and also bring residents together.
Those who would like to help are encourage to become volunteer fixers, people who have the skills to help with the repairs. People with the ability to fix the following are in particular demand: electrical items, electronics, and woodworking/general items. Those who are interested should email Amy Kaneko at amykaneko4@gmail.com or 415-728-8677. Those who don’t have any repair skills but who would like to help out in another capacity are also welcome to contact Kaneko.
Those who would like to help or attend, but who cannot make this date also are welcome to contact Kaneko. The goal is to make this Repair Café a semi-annual event.
