Collomore Concert Series Kicks Off
The first concert of the 2023 Collomore Concert Series will feature violinist Lun Li and pianist Albert Cano Smit on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 5 p.m.
A native of Shanghai, China, Lun has won numerous awards, including first prize in the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions. He is also the joint winner of the First Prize at the Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition. He was recently named a residency artist at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for their 2024–2027 seasons. Lun plays on the 1735 Stradivarius “Samazeuilh,” on generous loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
A musician who has been praised as “a moving young poet” (Le Devoir), Spanish/Dutch pianist Albert Cano Smit enjoys a growing international career on the orchestral, recital, and chamber music stages, and he is known as an advocate for new music.
Lun and Albert will perform the Richard Strauss Sonata for Violin and Piano. Albert will perform Schumann's Fantasie in C for solo piano, and the two will present other works by Strauss, Schumann, and Tchaikovsky.
