06/30/2023 09:18 AMThe Katharine Hepburn Museum will be open extended hours this summer and will be offering a special temporary exhibit and film events.
The summer hours in July and August are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Located in the lower lobby of The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main Street, Old Saybrook, the museum also will be open one hour prior to show times. Admission is free; however, a suggested donation of $5 per visitor supports the preservation of the collections.
On Sunday, July 2, a 12-minute documentary The Lady Fenwick will be shown throughout the day. There will be a Q&A with the filmmakers at 2 p.m. Newly graduated Wesleyan University film student, Hannah Carroll, will present her documentary thesis about Katharine Hepburn, for which she spent the better part of the past year producing, directing, and editing in an effort to tell a part of Hepburn's story. Much of the film was shot in Old Saybrook, in particular the borough of Fenwick where Hepburn lived. The film was awarded top honors from the thesis jury, as well as the Leavell Memorial Prize which recognizes outstanding work in the film medium.
The free screenings take place in the theater at 12:30 p.m., 1:15 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; tickets are no required. The Q&A will follow the 2 p.m. showing.
