02/23/2023 10:49 AMBrian, the new lead barista at both locations of Atticus Market in New Haven( the original bookstore location at 1082 Chapel Street and the newer East Rock outpost at 771 Orange Street) has created some new beverages that go with the market’s recent seasonal menu updates. New to the drinks menu are the pink peppercorn butterscotch latte, a pistachio latte, and a pistachio matcha. As for those recent menu items? They include a variety of pizzas including a ragu that tastes like lasagna; a sweet and spicy kale pie with nduja (a spicy pork sausage) with onion and fennel crumbs; and a braised escarole and olive pie with fior di latte, lemon, and a spicy caper condiment. Then there’s this new pastry they recently added, a kouign amann dough with atole, which is a sweet Bretton cake pastry, filled with Mexican hot chocolate thickened with cornmeal, topped with toasted meringue. Sounds like that is well worth a visit.
