02/23/2023 10:50 AMConnecticut Department of Environment and Energy (CT DEEP) foresters Alexander Amendola and Frank Cervo, and retired forester Emery Gluck for a discussion forest ecosystem management on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The Nehantic State Forest will be the focus of the discussion.
There will be a follow-up walk to tour a site of future management in Nehantic State Forest on March 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The discussion will touch on the specifics of tree cultivation of (silviculture) for forest growth and climate benefits will be discussed. Topics will include “Effects of Natural Disturbances and New Englanders on our Oak Forests, along with upcoming silviculture projects in the State forests that will create habitat diversity and forest ecosystem health.
Also included in the discussion will be invasive plant control and concepts and techniques that can be applied to private backyard habitats to promote biodiversity. Tony Irving, forest ecologist and Lyme Land Trust president-elect will moderate the panel.
