Judges Announced For Shoreline Arts Alliances’ IMAGES Competition

Shoreline Arts Alliance has named the judges for the IMAGES 2023 competition. They include Paulo Abrantes from Portugal, Tracey Woods from Brooklyn, and Lee Hoy from Texas.

IMAGES is Connecticut’s oldest state-wide photography competition and it is accepting admissions until noon on Thursday, Sept. 15. The jury-curated exhibit will be held at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, Old Lyme from Wednesday, Oct. 12 to Sunday, Nov. 6. For more information on submission rules and other details, visit www.shorelinearts.org.

Abrantes, lives near Aveiro City, Portugal. Mood and geometry are an integral part of his work. Both help him shape the abstraction in his street images. He believes that when all the elements come together and the shot works like it should, the image can separate itself from its location and take on a life of its own.

Woods is the director of photography at The Luupe and a freelance creative consultant and producer. Prior to this she was the photo director at Essence Communications. She has overseen projects ranging from celebrity portraiture, fashion and beauty, to reportage, travel, food and lifestyle photography for brands such as Mari by Marsai, Emblem Health, Revlon, Verizon, Wiley Publishing as well as Ebony and InStyle Specials magazines. As an artist and photographer, she draws inspiration from beauty in the unexpected.

Lee Hoy is a wildlife, landscape, macro, and night sky photographer based out of the Davis Mountains in west Texas. In addition to being the owner of Big Bend Birding & Photo Tours, he also serves as the lead photography workshop instructor for Wildside Nature Tours and is an adventure photography workshop instructor for Precision Camera & Video in Austin and Houston, Texas.

Shoreline Arts Alliance, a Regional Service Organization of CT Department of Economic and Community Development-Office of the Arts, is a 501 (C) 3 organization founded in 1981 to serve individual artists, arts, cultural and heritage organizations, educational institutions, strategic partners and the community-at-large.
