Nibbles: Paying it Forward
My husband and I went out for breakfast every single weekend, sometimes Saturday and Sunday. We often sat at a counter and got to know most of the waitstaff and many of the customers, too. After my husband died, I rarely went. Now, I do go out for breakfast and I sit at the counter, order, and read whatever novel I am into on my Kindle.
A couple of Saturdays ago, I sat at the counter at one of my favorite local places, and talked a bit to the man next to me. He said he wanted to pay for my breakfast. I am pretty old at this point, and it is breakfast, and breakfast isn’t very expensive, and no one is trying to pick me up, so I thanked him. I thought about it for a few days. It was so nice and pleasant. I decided that, not all the time but maybe a few times, I will pay it forward. What do you think?
