10/30/2024 08:00 AMState Senator Christine Cohen has demonstrated overwhelming leadership during her three terms at the Capitol. In addition to ensuring funding to UConn, nonprofits throughout the state, early childhood programs, and mental health services to address the crisis affecting children and adolescents, Sen. Cohen has succeeded in restoring service on Shore Line East and implementing improved safety measures on our roads. Most significant is that she directed the Department of Transportation to implement wrong-way driving countermeasures at high-risk ramps throughout the state. This was a crucial response to the increase in traffic fatalities caused by wrong-way drivers.
Sen. Cohen has also demonstrated her commitment to our local communities and the people she serves. She extended the income tax exemption to qualified persons, preserved Social Security benefits on state income taxes, extended the ban on PFAS, improved oversight for homecare and nursing homes, fought for measures to address global warming, and has been a champion for disenfranchised youth in need of special services.
Additionally, she has demonstrated a consistent commitment to quality education, improvements in our state parks, hospice services, and community safety. Sen. Christine Cohen is a valued legislator in our district and has been extraordinary in her public service. She is frequently seen in our local communities, typically attends community events, and communicates with constituents on a wide range of issues. State Sen. Christine Cohen is an astute and experienced leader. Let’s return her to Hartford to continue the excellent job she is doing for all of us.
