A Dynamic Tandem
Guilford is fortunate to have a dynamic tandem of legislators, State Senator Christine Cohen and State Representative Moira Rader. They work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure their constituents and the state are served well.
We need legislators who can deal with the complexities of today, while recognizing we must be cognizant of and adapt to a future that brings new challenges. As parents of emerging young adults, our legislative team is looking down the road toward their futures and the futures of children and later generations without neglecting the challenges faced daily. They work on meeting an appropriate balance.
We need legislators who can make things happen for their respective districts and the state. Our team knows how to make things happen because they know that effective legislation comes through collaboration and the hard work of negotiating with many stakeholders. Sen. Cohen, by virtue of her time in the legislature, has a longer list. Key collaborations include Ethan’s Law, the Connecticut Clean Air Act, and, most recently, the increase in funding for Shore Line East. Rep. Rader has been a champion of increased nutrition for school students and has been instrumental in the passage of free school lunches for those most in need. At the League of Women Voters forum, she reminded us of a public health initiative she took in the area of gun safety; at the annual pediatric check-up, doctors must share Ethan’s Law with the parents, to reinforce the notion of safe storage in a household. This simple act may save some lives!
I want to be represented by Legislators like Sen. Christine Cohen and Rep. Moira Rader. I encourage all to vote for them during this voting season, which ends on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
