A Candidate We Can Trust

Hello neighbors, the legislators who will represent us in Hartford are our lifeline to the vision we have for the future of this community we call home. I am proud to support Renee Lamark Muir for State Representative in the 36th Assembly District. I am grateful to her for stepping up to this important role and am confident that she will serve our community with competence and commitment.

Renee served as a public servant throughout her career in law enforcement, working in New York City, and later as a detective in Hartford. Her extraordinary experience is easily translated to our small towns where public safety is an issue for all residents. She also served as a policy analyst in law enforcement to the Connecticut legislature including issues such as ethics, police accountability, and improved measures to support police officers. Her experience in this nonpartisan role will be an asset for her in working across party lines in the legislature.

Renee is our homegrown candidate for State Representative, the niece of the late Dick Smith, known as “Smitty” to all. Despite glowing achievements throughout her career, she is ready now to bring her unique experiences to a new role. Renee has been a strong leader in the Deep River community, serving on multiple boards and committees. She is smart, astute, and pragmatic. She will bring an extraordinary commitment to the local towns she knows so well. We can count on her to protect our economic and environmental resources, to work in the best interest of small towns, and to improve the quality of life for all her constituents. She is a candidate we can trust.
