The Right Person

I have really gotten to know Devin Carney since my husband and I moved to Old Saybrook. I can tell you that Devin is thoughtful, hardworking, and cares deeply about the people of the 23rd District. As a nearly lifelong resident of Old Saybrook, Devin embraced us and wanted to tell us all about the wonderful hidden gems of the town. As your town treasurer, I speak frequently about finances and state and local government with him.

As our State Representative, Devin is one of those people who looks at an issue and uses critical thinking to come to the best conclusions. He is not bound by party lines, and anyone who thinks that clearly has never spoken to him. The Independent Party thought to endorse him among the Republicans and Democrats they cross-endorsed because they believe he is the best choice for bipartisanship.

As a mother to four women, I can tell you that Devin supports women’s issues. He co-sponsored legislation to ensure insurance coverage of vital healthcare like contraception, breast cancer screenings, fertility preservation for cancer patients, and domestic violence counseling. This past term, Devin introduced and passed legislation to increase access to over-the-counter contraception. He supported pay equity and was the only Republican to co-sponsor legislation to ensure lactation consultants have necessary training.

Devin was raised by a single mom and knows how vital these issues are. I feel confident Devin is the right person to continue representing us, and I hope you think so too.
