Deliver Results

I strongly endorse State Senator Christine Cohen and State Representative John-Michael Parker for re-election based on their proven ability to deliver results for Madison.

“Shore Line East Adds New Peak-Time Trains.” This headline cemented my support for Sen. Cohen. She has compiled a remarkable legislative record in environmental protection, reproductive freedom, support for small businesses, education, and healthcare. But her dogged persistence in securing $5 million for the Shore Line East railroad from the American Rescue Plan Act shows what a smart, experienced legislator can accomplish.

I attended one of Sen. Cohen’s legislative updates last spring, and the prospect of restoring Shore Line East service to anywhere near pre-pandemic levels was looking grim. Commuter railroad service on the shoreline is just not going to be a priority with lawmakers in the rest of the state. But Sen. Cohen marshaled the facts, worked the aisles in a bipartisan way, and called on the credibility she has built up in Hartford to get the job done.

John-Michael Parker’s background has made him a natural leader in healthcare, education and the arts. But working with John-Michael since he first became a candidate, I can attest that he is also an absolute whiz with numbers and analytics. He is acutely aware of the need for tax relief and state support for much-needed Madison projects that would otherwise rely solely on property taxes.

Working with Sen. Cohen and community leaders, John-Michael has delivered more than $14 million of state aid for Madison projects, including $6 million in additional funding for Neck River School and $4 million for the Madison Community Center. John-Michael has also helped deliver the two largest tax cuts in Connecticut history, including tax relief for parents, disabled veterans, and retirees.

I urge Madison voters to reelect these dedicated, results-oriented legislators.
