Appalled
I was appalled on Oct. 6 morning when I arrived to attend the 10 o'clock service at Trinity Church on Branford's Green to find at least a dozen (if not more) parking spaces on Town Hall Drive blocked with Branford Police Department no parking signs.
This was in advance of an event scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. I spoke to someone who said she was in charge, and she seemed not to care that people were unable to park to attend services. Animal Awareness Day was not scheduled to start until noon. I don't understand why it is necessary to block so many parking spaces so early for people to use when setting up. If they want that much of Town Hall Drive for their use, perhaps the program should be scheduled for a later time or on a Saturday instead of a Sunday.
I am all for compassion for animals. I live with a rescued dog. But what about compassion for people who want to exercise their freedom of worship? Trinity Church already loses the ability to hold services one Sunday a year due to the Brandford Festival & Road Race. Are we to lose another?
