A Strong and Effective Voice
As Madison’s First Selectwoman, I have had the honor to work closely with State Senator Christine Cohen on many important matters impacting the quality of life in our community. After six years of serving in the state legislature, Sen. Cohen has proven herself to be a leader with the skills and tenacity to get the job done. Using innovation, bi-partisan collaboration, compassion, and pragmatism, she has become a strong and effective voice for us in Hartford.
Since first entering office, Sen. Cohen has played a leadership role in passing a number of critical bills to strengthen Connecticut's environment and sustainability, healthcare and family safety nets, gun safety, fiscal stability, and economic development. As a former chair of the Environment Committee and cofounder of the Coastal Caucus, Sen. Cohen has been able to develop new public policies that tackle climate change and protect our future. She is a leader that finds solutions rather than just creating barriers. As chair of the Transportation Committee, she has been a strong advocate for restoring Shore Line East service and ensuring our region gets the necessary dollars to improve critical roadway infrastructure. She also played a key role in securing over $30 million in state funding to assist Madison in a wide range of community projects, including Garvan Point, Academy, and the Madison School Renewal Plan, among others.
Throughout her tenure, Sen. Cohen has been highly accessible to the public and responsive to the concerns of district residents when navigating state agencies. She has also been a great partner to our local government by advocating for our town with the governor’s office, different commissioners, and other state officials. She listens, learns, and delivers.
I encourage everyone to vote for Sen. Christine Cohen to represent us in the State Senate for another two years.
