10/16/2024 08:00 AMTwo years ago, East Haven gained a new State Senator, Christine Cohen. In the last two years, Christine Cohen has joined the East Haven community with a warmth and eagerness that I am truly grateful for.
Christine really hit the ground running - meeting with the mayor, the East Haven delegation, and our elected councils and attending many community events. She worked together with her bipartisan delegation members to secure $781,000 in state funding to update sidewalks and crosswalks on Messina Drive near East Farm Village.
Christine worked to pass a balanced state budget with a $600 million tax cut, all while investing in important services and making historic payments on our debt. She passed and extended a ban on PFAS "forever chemicals" to preserve clean air and water, protected income tax exemptions for many retirees, and will continue to fight to protect families' access to the full range of reproductive healthcare - including abortion, in vitro fertilization, and birth control.
Christine Cohen is an effective, present, and pragmatic representative who truly embraces the role of public servant by listening to her constituents and working across the aisle to get results. I am eager to cast my vote for Christine Cohen, and I hope you will join me! Vote early starting Monday, Oct. 21, or in-person on Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
