Dedicated and Committed

I am writing to proudly support Lisa Deane, co-owner of Brother Mike’s restaurant in Madison, for the 101st state seat in the Connecticut General Assembly. As a working millennial and lifelong Madison resident, I am very concerned about the rising cost of living in Madison. With the high rate of inflation in Connecticut, compounded by the exponential increase in electricity rates with the Connecticut public benefits charge, being able to live in Madison is near impossible. Having started working this year as an adjunct professor, I would like to stay here in Madison and raise a family, but the state economic policies are making young people like me move out of Connecticut.

Thankfully, Lisa Deane, as a fresh voice in Hartford, wants to change all of this. As a small business owner in Madison, Lisa has the experience to develop and balance a sustainable state budget to get Connecticut spending under control and decrease the cost of living, and she is dedicated to promoting economic growth by eliminating unnecessary taxes and supporting immediate sales and income tax relief, which will allow businesses to expand and hire more employees as well as allow workers to keep more of their take-home pay.

Lisa is also dedicated to fighting the fentanyl epidemic plaguing our nation and Connecticut. Being part of founding demandZERO, a non-profit organization providing resources for law enforcement to help combat drug trafficking and provide educational awareness to affected residents, Lisa has helped craft laws such as HB-6698 supporting victims of substance abuse and establishing minimum prison sentences for drug-related crimes. Furthermore, she is committed to keeping Madison residents safe from theft and crime so that they can raise their families in a secure, peaceful, and affordable environment in the town they know and love.
