Smart, Approachable, and Dedicated
Like many readers, I was amused by Republican Senate candidate Paul Crisci’s clownish attempts to pass political advertising off as journalism. Nonetheless, I was impressed by his focus on “common sense” and “purpose-driven legislation.”
That’s why I want a senator who champions common sense laws to keep loaded guns out of the hands of kids, one who promotes early childhood programs as well as measures to address the mental health crisis among young people. I want a senator who also cares about seniors, one who supports improved oversight of nursing homes, state funding for pharmacy improvements at hospice, and and expanded home-care services. In addition, my ideal candidate would spearhead “purpose-driven legislation” to extend the ban on forever chemicals, promote clean energy alternatives, and secure funding to restore more service to Shore Line East.
Senator Christine Cohen has done all this and much more while still working with colleagues to cut the income tax rate for most residents, build the largest rainy day fund in state history, pay down $7.7 billion in long-term debt, and expand tax exemptions on pensions, IRAs, and annuities.
Smart, approachable, and dedicated, Sen. Cohen deserves another term to apply her “common sense” and “purpose-driven” approach to the complex problems facing the state. No clownish antics. Just good governance.
