A Tremendous Success

I am thrilled to share the success of the 2024 Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale held on the Branford Green from Sept. 19 to 22. This event was a tremendous success, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, including the weather gods, for their cooperation.

Such an event is impossible without the dedication of numerous volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year, as well as those who participated in the set-up, the sale itself, and the breakdown and clean-up. I am deeply grateful to the many shoppers who came out to purchase great books at great prices, and to our partners on the Green—Trinity Church Fair and Branford Parks and Recreation Department—who added to the festivities.

A special acknowledgment goes to our 2024 business sponsors who supported the Raise the Tent campaign. A heartfelt thank you to our title sponsor, Walmart, for their financial support and for providing a team of associates who were invaluable on set-up day. Additionally, the Branford Community Foundation deserves recognition for its support as a gold sponsor. Community support like this is truly appreciated.

This year’s book sale exceeded all expectations. All proceeds, after expenses, go towards supporting enrichment programs, activities, and materials for the James Blackstone Memorial Library, allowing everyone in our community to benefit from these offerings at no charge. For the fiscal year ending June 2024, Friends gifted the Blackstone Library a total of $72,000, made possible by our book sales on the Green.
