The Extra Mile

State Senator Christine Cohen and State Representative Moira Rader will have my enthusiastic vote in November because they have shown they are effective communicators and because, quite simply, they get things done. A few months ago, I attended a meeting at the library in Stony Creek hosted by Christine and Moira. Its purpose was to hear from voters about concerns and problems that could be addressed by legislators in Hartford. I wanted to learn more about the state’s plans for improving Route 146 because my neighbors in the 7th District (which I represent on the Representative Town Meeting) are particularly concerned about the safety of this state road that runs through our community.

As the chair of the Transportation Committee in the Senate, Christine addressed questions in a way that gave us a much better understanding of the challenges faced in a project of this magnitude. Both she and Moira were knowledgeable about problems their constituents have identified with the current roadway and options about how these could be addressed on a state scenic roadway.

When we voters send legislators to Hartford, we expect that they will be articulate and persuasive advocates. Moira and Christine have proven to be that and more. Their willingness to go the extra mile to be sure their constituents know they are “heard” is why Christine Cohen and Moira Rader will have my vote this November.
