As Madison’s First Selectwoman, I’ve had the honor of working closely with State Representative John-Michael Parker on a range of important issues for our town. He has proven himself to be a vital partner with local government on important public policy issues and a great champion of Madison’s efforts to invest in its future. He understands the importance of listening to local constituency concerns while also being mindful of broader public policy implications that affect all Connecticut residents.

First elected in 2020, Rep. Parker has a track record as an innovator, problem-solver, and bridge builder. By working to bring people together with kindness and respect, John-Michael led the passage of bipartisan legislation that invests in public health, passed measures to keep our community safe, and supported the largest tax cut in our state’s history.

John-Michael has also proven himself to be a champion at delivering critical funding for a wide range of community initiatives and town capital projects, securing $32 million in state grants to save us millions locally. Many of these investments are becoming visible around town, such as state construction funds for the new Neck River Elementary School, $770,000 for the recently launched Garvan Point rehabilitation project, and $206,000 for the Woodland Rd/Route 79 sidewalk project, now underway. He also assisted in securing critical help for community organizations struggling in the aftermath of the pandemic, like Madison Cultural Arts to sustain our beloved July 4th Concert on the Green and the American Legion for the successful completion of their building renovation.

Representative Parker wants to ensure that Madison families today enjoy the same affordable quality of life he enjoyed while growing up here. He has become a strong and influential voice for us in Hartford, and I encourage Madison voters to send him back on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
