At 6:45 a.m. on Sept. 7, I heard the start of the 2024 Dave Parcells Madison Triathlon booming from the Surf Club. A few hours later, at the intersection of Island Avenue and the Boston Post Road, I saw a Madison police officer directing traffic and cheering on a para-athlete cycling his way back from the 13-mile course up Copse and Warpas roads to a loop around Overbrook, Opening Hill, and Winterhill roads, to the finish line at the Surf Club. For me, this quick scene captured why we love our town. Special thanks to all who make these momentous events possible, and hearty congratulations to the over 200 triathlon athletes!
