After 30-plus years of allowing registration and parking for the Chester Road Race, I was shocked and disappointed by the decision of St. Joseph's Church not to allow the use of their parking lot this year. The reason given in the town newsletter was the "pending sale to Honeycomb." According to the town property record card, the sale has not been finalized. In addition, at least based on the plans submitted to the Planning and Zoning Commission, only a small portion of the parking lot is included in the sale. As members of the Chester Community, I would have thought that the Church would be open to the continued support of a town event.
