06/05/2024 08:00 AMThe members of the Old Saybrook Garden Club (OSGC) extend our very grateful thanks to everyone for supporting our club’s annual Gardeners’ Market held on the Old Saybrook Town Green on May 10 and 11. We particularly acknowledge all the help and assistance given to us throughout the week by the Old Saybrook Public Works Department. The support of the OSGC by the First Selectman, Department of Parks and Rec, Building Department, Fire Marshal, and Fire Department is much appreciated.
OSGC extends sincere thanks to the general manager of Saybrook Point Resort and Marina for the donation of perennials. We enjoyed working with their new gardener, Kat, to dig the plants. We are grateful to Douglas Mechanical Services, Common Cents EMS Supply, and Grace Episcopal Church for their assistance. Kudos go out to our own member volunteers, especially the committee members who helped us plan and accomplish this event.
An extra special thanks goes out to all our customers who generously support us so that we can beautify Old Saybrook throughout each year. As our only annual fundraiser, the 2024 Gardeners’ Market proceeds enable us to pursue our signature civic beautification projects. These efforts include planting and maintaining the 23 median planters along Main Street, our Constitution Garden in front of Saybrook Home, the flower beds at the Old Saybrook Fire House, and the container gardens at Acton Public Library and the Old Saybrook Police Station. During the darker holiday season, we light up Main Street with wreaths and garlands on the median lamp posts. Additionally, these proceeds allow us to offer college scholarships to local students who pursue ecologically related fields of study. Thanks to your generous support, our members can do their best to help Old Saybrook look its best this summer and all year long.
