Politics, political, Democrat, Republican, 40-plus times. This so-called “process” reeks of politics, not people, the Town Council and commissions customers.
The term “process” is also used in this article and is not new to the Town Council.
You cannot talk about a “process” without not being people-centered. People, process, results. The Town Council was introduced to the process approach by our former Town Manager, Karl Kilduff, in 2020. A document titled “Town Council Leaders Guide October 2020” sits on the Town Council’s site, but that’s where it sits, collecting digital dust. It describes the “process” of how to, in a disciplined, consistent and controlled manner, manage the town efficiently and effectively. Use it or lose it. This “process” approach helps minimize the political, emotional components and achieve its defined objectives of value, driven by the voice of the customer, the people. Follow your process. It’s all about people.
It’s also time for the Town Council to implement a skill based versus political appointment “process.” It focuses on appointing people with experience or background that is relevant to each commission.
