11/01/2023 08:00 AMThe Planning and Zoning Commission is of great importance in determining the quality of life in town because it regulates land use and the nature and extent of future growth and development. I have served on the Killingworth Planning and Zoning Commission for 44 years but decided it was time to step down and not run again. Fortunately, for this election, there are good candidates from both parties. However, I would like to especially recommend two because they are the most experienced and would provide important continuity.
Paul McGuinness is a professional engineer specializing in bridge construction. He has served on the commission for 16 years. Besides providing engineering expertise, Paul strongly supports maintaining the rural-residential character of Killingworth.
Tom Hogarty is presently the vice-chairman of the commission. He is running for his third term on the commission. He was previously a lieutenant with the Connecticut State Police and a zoning enforcement officer in different towns. As a result, he is knowledgeable about enforcement and planning and zoning law.
These two candidates have the necessary experience and knowledge to lead the commission and deserve your support.
