Make An Informed Decision

On Sept. 10, I held a private Q&A event, “inviting” Kathryn Russell to come and answer questions as to issues pertaining directly to Deep River, such as taxes, housing, education, and economic development to help residents make an informative decision as to what candidate will best support the residents of Deep River.

I would like to clarify the misinformation that is circulating. Kathryn Russell had no part in the planning of the event. All cost, invitations, and planning was my doing. Invitations were handed out or emailed. Those in receipt of an invitation were encouraged to extend the invite to others who might be interested in attending. The invitations clearly stated to email questions in advance of the event.

I chose not to have an open forum, not with the intention to control the process, but to keep it on topic and within the allotted time, which proved to be a good choice based on a few guests' unexpected behavior. Furthermore, I would like to add that all guests were directed to Kathryn’s website where they could ask her any additional questions directly.

In my observation, Kathryn has consistently shown a willingness and openness to respond to any inquiries posed to her. She has held eight Coffee with Katie events at Hally Jo’s, Pandemonium, and Dunkin Donuts. The events have been posted on her website, Facebook, and Instagram. I have never witnessed her declining to answer any person’s question, which reflects her commitment to transparent and accountable communication.

I believe it is essential to clarify these details to ensure a clear understanding of the event. Misinformation can be detrimental to constructive dialogue, and I hope that this letter can help set the record straight.

I hope your decision for the Tuesday, Nov. 7 election is an informed one.
