10/25/2023 08:00 AMCarol Jones has spent the majority of the past 30 years giving back to this community and enriching the lives of those who live here. She has worked hard for so many years to improve Deep River. Carol has not only earned my vote for first selectman but my respect and admiration.
As Park and Recreation Director, Carol has helped secure more than a million dollars in grant funds for our parks. In addition to her work on the Park and Recreation Commission, Carol has volunteered for many important causes that have benefited our local area. She currently serves as a volunteer on the Deep River Sustainable CT Committee and has served as its chair in the past. She is a member of the Community Health Committee and the Town Hall Auditorium Management Committee.
Carol's college degrees in the sciences explain why sustainability is so important to her. Her work there speaks to her dedication to our environment. In a previous career, she was an environmental consultant, where she tested water, air, and soil samples and did site assessments. She worked her way up to project manager, where she oversaw all aspects of a project: budgets, communication with clients, report preparation and review, and data analysis. She responded to and prepared RFPs and, when necessary, presented RFPs to clients.
The best leaders are forward-looking, competent, intelligent, and broad minded. Carol is all of those things and so much more! She is dedicated, disciplined, empathetic, honest, motivated, positive, reliable, and responsible. No one cares more about Deep River, its future, and its residents than Carol Jones. I believe that Carol Jones is the best candidate for first selectman to lead Deep River into the future.
