On the Right Track

As many readers are now aware, Independent Guilford (IG) is a newly formed political party just for Guilford. The group hopes to engage community members who may not identify strongly with a major party but who care deeply about Guilford and would like to have more of a voice in decisions about its future. I write to bring awareness to the local elections happening on Tuesday, Nov. 7. As you may know, the majority party in town (currently the Democrats) can only hold the majority of any town commission by one vote. Thus, other parties have to fill the remaining slots.

This November, the Guilford Independent Party is slating two incumbent candidates, Bob Hartmann for Board of Finance and Kristen Peck for Board of Education. They have both served the town of Guilford for a number of years and understand the community well. They understand that fiscal health and strong schools are key to Guilford’s future. I enthusiastically endorse both candidates.

IG is growing and encouraging participation in elections and on boards and commissions. We hope you will join us. Let’s keep this town on the right track.
