10/11/2023 09:49 AMIn a perfect world, every town would have many choices for leadership in their town government. Years ago, the job of selectman was far less complicated. The myriad responsibilities the job entails today demand someone with executive skills and managerial expertise. If you owned a $20 million per year business, wouldn’t you hire a candidate with that ability to manage it? The selectman’s job is a peculiar institution where political party seems to supersede knowledge and experience. In the almost forty years I have been a resident and business owner in Deep River, this is the first time we have had the opportunity to have a Selectman with those qualities. Times have changed. Deep River can do better! Our taxes are high; economic development is moribund. We need professional leadership to move our town forward. It’s only about politics if you want to hold our community back.
Kathryn Russell has the drive, determination, experience, and love of our town to lead! Please support her on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
