Passionate About Impacting Our Community
I am Meghan Brady, writing to introduce myself as a Democratic candidate for the Old Saybrook Board of Finance. I grew up on the Connecticut shoreline and have always felt that Old Saybrook is a special place to live, work, and visit. When my husband, Howard, and I returned to the area in 2005 to raise our children, Garrett and Katelin, we chose Old Saybrook and have been active and proud residents ever since!
Over the past 18 years, I have had the pleasure to work with many of you in school, church, and athletic organizations–PTOs, Safe Grad, St. Pio Parish, and Shoreline Soup Kitchens and Food Pantries. I spent the last four years as president of Old Saybrook High School Ram Boosters Athletic Club and also served on the Board of Selectmen’s Turf Ballfield Lights Committee, where I worked successfully with many local organizations and businesses, as well as our town boards and commissions.
My professional career began in Washington, DC, working in public affairs. My work in Connecticut has been for state and local community-based organizations, primarily in eldercare.
Why the Board of Finance? In short, I am passionate about making an impact in our community. My experience with the public sector budget process, starting a small business, and managing non-profit organizations have prepared me well for the position.
The Board of Finance can be fiscally responsible, keep the mill rate low, and invest in critical assets promoting smart growth. We need more investments in recreational facilities and attainable housing for young adults and families. We want to attract new families looking for a top-notch school system and support seniors aging in place.
I look forward to seeing you in our community. Please vote for me for the Board of Finance on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
